Black East Indies

This tiny Black East Indie hen with the white markings, was sold to me as a black call duck, which after thorough investigation was not true, but I still love her the same. She was completely black and iridescent when I bought her, but over time she has slowly lost her black coloring and grown completely pure white feathers! This is not uncommon in this breed especially in females when they get older. In the slideshow below see her progression from black to white.

My Black East Indie drake came from a duck farm in Montana, in January of 2025. In the sunlight he is a beautiful iridescent green, blue and purple, and he is considered a high-quality bird due to his coloring. This duck loves his mate and is most content when sunbathing.
